Kasim Sulton will be performing his Scottish solo acoustic debut at the Hard Rock Cafe (upstairs) on Tuesday, July 10th.
You can be forgiven for not knowing the name, but read on...you know this man's music!
Kasim Sulton is best known for his work with Todd Rundgren in the power pop band Utopia. He also wrote and sang lead on their Top 20 hit “Set Me Free.”
In addition, Sulton has performed with Joan Jett, Hall and Oates, Cheap Trick, Richie Sambora, Mick Jagger, Celine Dion, Bon Jovi, Patti Smith, Blue Oyster Cult, and Meat Loaf over his nearly 40-year career. He’s currently part of the touring band of Don Felder (Eagles).
Kasim Sulton joined Utopia in 1976 and stayed until 1986 during which time they recorded nine albums and toured the world. They have recently reformed Utopia and are touring the US. He continues to be a core member of Todd Rundgren’s touring band.
He played bass and sang backing vocals on Meat Loaf's multi-million selling album «Bat Out of Hell» in 1978 and continued to be a part of Meat Loaf's career by acting as his Musical Director for his touring band Neverland Express.
He became a member of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts in the late 1980's where he toured, recorded and contributed songs. In 2012 he became a full time member of Blue Oyster Cult until 2017.
His solo career includes 1982's «Kasim» album which features the hit «Don't Break My Heart», 2002's «Quid Pro Quo» and 2014's «3».
