GIG — Hey all y'all lovely people, I am going to start putting on some gigs with lots of my amazing and talented pals who play lots of fab and beautiful music and this is the first one!
Playing some fabby music on the night are:
The Lawnmower — 80's-esque pop loveliness, from the loveliest duo, providing brat-pack wannabes with a perfect modern day John Hughes soundtrack. Think Sean Nicolas Savage meets Duran Duran kinda vibes.
Mystic Rock — Punky, shouty, jaggy guitar niceness from this fab trio, weird and fab DIY perfection. Check them out here on this episode of The Artsy Vice Show https://youtube.com/watch?v=3tjw10fAw8w
Personality Toilet — New on the scene and bringing some sweet heartfelt melodies with male baritone and perfect, female-counterpoint. This three-piece «are the unexpected joy of people discovering what they can be, how they can be,the change they want to see in the world».
Otherworld — Beautiful otherworldly electronic music concrète. floating ethereal vibes crafted intricately into futuristic driving electronics, a totally enthralling sound. Think Else Marie Pade and Radiophonic Workshop.
This gig bit of the evening starts at 7:30pm and will cost you £5 with no one turned away for lack of funds, so please come along and have a nice time regardless of your bank balance.
CLUBNIGHT — After this is Drugstore Glamour — expect lots of dancing lots of funky, disco pop and weirdness and all round lovely times.
Also joining the night are Sorbie Rd. DJs — whose subcity radio show you can find here — https://subcity.org/shows/sorbierd/
. Expect a mix of postpunk, electronic and ambient amongst other vibes. Sorbie Rd is a place where the illusion of objective facts are forgotten and only the subject remains. Sounds of innocence and experience, contrast and cohesion, enjoyment and contemplation. Devotion without morals. Intimidating yet Intimate. Melody and rhythm or lack thereof.
Entry for the clubnight starts at about 11:30 and is totally free all night, with gig-goers encouraged to stay and boogie the night away!
IMPORTANT — I really want this night to be something lovely and fab and full of pals, and so any shitty behaviour, anything making anyone feel unsafe or excluded will not be tolerated. Respect the people around you, take note of other's personal space and do not overstep boundaries, just think and be nice please!
If you do at any point in the evening experience any behaviour that makes you feel anything other than comfortable please talk to any member of staff OR just come straight to me if you would prefer and I will do my best to make sure it gets sorted out!
All toilets will be gender neutral.
~PS thank you so much to Areej Al Musalhi for the totally fab poster ♥
