2018 is an important year for Scottish Autism as we celebrate our 50th anniversary.
Over this time, our services have evolved due to our knowledge of effective autism practice, and we are now holding a 2 day conference with the aim of providing a platform for sharing visionary approaches to the development of autism practice.
Our programme will be influenced and informed by a contemporary view that embraces autism as a developmental difference and focuses on a capacity view of the individual. There will be a focus on novel practice related research that demonstrates the meaningful participation of, or that has been led by autistic individuals.
In addition to a fantastic array of speakers, we are holding a celebratory dinner on the evening of day one of our conference. We are delighted that the dinner will be hosted by Deputy First Minister of Scotland, John Swinney. It will also include a drinks reception kindly sponsored by Glasgow City Council and a welcome from the Lord Provost of Glasgow. Join us for a delicious three course meal, the chance to network and most importantly a night of fun and dancing.
The conference will be of interest to Researchers, Practitioners, Autistic people, Parents, Carers, Commissioners and Policy makers.
Full details on our 50th Anniversary Conference can be found on our dedicated website at scottishautismconference.org
We are sponsoring The Participatory Autism Research Collective (PARC) to run an Autistic Fringe alongside our conference consisting of daytime workshops, discussions and information sharing as well as an evening event.
During the day on the 8th and 9th November Fringe activities will run during conference hours, starting at 9am and finishing at 5pm at the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow G1 3SF.
