Calling all novel writers, seasoned and aspiring! No more excuses, make 2019 YOUR year to achieve your writing goal.
Whether you've hankered after crafting your first story or you just want to hone your tehnique, come and join us for support and camaraderie. We are the writers' group for Lanarkshire and Glasgow.
Led by a university lecturer and published writer of fiction and non-fiction, we meet each week for a short teaching session. There are always some fun but challenging exercisesto do, based on the teaching. These activities are designed to help us to improve our craft. Learning activities will be based on plot, characterisation, viewpoint, structure etc. We'll also discuss establishing a writing habit, using writing software, editing and publishing options.
Most importantly, we will discuss our work and hold each other accountable to actually make a start on our novels and to keep up a regular writing habit. We keep in touch between the weekly sessions through a private Facebook Group.
No previous experience is necessary and don't worry if you've been out of education for years. This is a friendly wee group in a cosy atmosphere so you have nothing to fear. And you don't have to read anything you've written out loud to the group either! Everyone comes on their own, so don't be shy.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Children are welcome to come along (they can play, do homework or watch TV in another room). Costs £5 per adult per week. £1 per child (for refreshments). Join us at any time. These classes are very popular, so please message beforehand to check availability.
