It's time for a New Year's RESOLUTION!🤘😁🎉
The start of a calendar year offers a great opportunity to have a look back on what lessons we've learned, memories we've made, and games we've acquired over the past twelve months, some of which being things we might be better letting go of…
But don't fret, we're here to help -at least when it comes to the cardboard kinds😜! On top of our usual day-long gaming session we're going to host a rather handy New Year Bring & Buy where you can give your games a new lease of life, and maybe grab a deal on a long-sought-after gem! (Details below...)👇👇👇
A quick intro for the newbies: we're a regular board game meet-up, designed to encourage casual and 'uninitiated' folk to the splendour that is modern gaming! Serving it up with a massive dollop of tasty food and easy chat.
We set up on a Sunday, every two weeks, upstairs in the CCA, bringing along a giant selection of games up for playing.
We now host a library of OVER 200 GAMES for you to choose. From easy, rules-light, fast plays to the more epic campaign-based afternoon features. Ranging from very familiar classic games we'll all recognise from our childhood to other titles that maybe new to you but are played by millions worldwide!
Admission for DRC will be £2 for each player. You're welcome to stay all day, and try out as many games as you like. I'll be on hand to recommend the best and get you up and running within no time.
Hopefully see you there!
...now for details for the Bring & Buy...🤝🤝🤝
You're all encouraged to offer up any games you own that you'd like to see go to another home, whether a title much-loved but superseded, a gift (mis)giving or a cracker that you have to admit doesn't get played enough. Please:
1) list the items you have to offer below,
2) it's condition, (photos always help)
3) and a suggested price.
People are free to express interest, negotiate and reply on the event page. People can then bring along the games either to test-out, inspect or exchange on the Dice Roll day (13th Jan)! Out of courtesy it'd be good to suspend any settled deals till at least a couple days before the event, to allow people enough time to see what's available. I'll set aside a table to drop-off, store games to pick-up, or display any last-minute bring-along's.
Registration opens at 1pm. You can leave the games at the dedicated Bring&Buy table. There'll be post-its for people to leave notes of interest or bid on things too. I'll let ppl look at stuff till 4pm after which you can start officialising sales, donations, and taking your goodies home with you!
As per the spirit of Dice Roll Cafe, of gaming and making a positive change💓, 10% of the ticket price of all sales will be donated to the winning charity voted by you on our Facebook page: SAMH -the Scottish Association for Mental Health. (Thanks to everyone that participated in the poll)🙏
Thanks for reading all that, and here's hoping we have a tip-top turnout for our first ever Bring & Buy Charity Fundraiser!
